Forester IT takes its name from the Forester kangaroo, Tasmania’s largest land mammal and the most widely distributed macropod in Australia, where it is more commonly known as the eastern grey kangaroo.

Experience
Where the experience comes from
Forester IT was founded in 2008, after our founder left full-time work as a Regional IT Manager and Acting Global CIO for a large international mining company.
Automation had already been a significant part of that career for many years. The first autonomous operation was commissioned in 1996 — an underground crushing and haulage system at Renison Tin in Tasmania.
Since then, that experience has spanned traditional process control and PLC-based systems, ERP migrations, ERP and RPA implementations, fixed-plant autonomous and fuzzy control systems, systems integration, and mobile autonomous operations.
That work has reached some genuinely remote places.
Exploration programs across Australia and the Steppes of the Gobi Desert in Mongolia. Control systems 4.5 km underground in South Africa. Autonomous haulage systems 4 km above sea level in the Chilean Andes. And even a feasibility study for a salt mine beneath the English Channel.
It’s a long way from a kangaroo-named clothing business in Tasmania.
But the same instinct runs through all of it:
